Upload bank and card statements
Your bank isn't on the list yet? Email one of its statement PDFs to [email protected]. We set BreadHustle up to read your bank, let you know when it's ready, and then you upload your statements here yourself.
Every statement is checked against the bank's own totals to the cent; one that doesn't close is kept but not counted. The same statement twice is caught, even as a different file.

BBU paid you, but the settlement isn't in BreadHustle
Upload these settlements on the dashboard so the deposit splits into sales, promo, returns, load and BBU deductions. If one is a route sale or another one-off, mark it in Transactions.

Profit & Loss
Cash view from your statements: what came in and went out, by when the bank posted it. BBU deposits are already net of the route loan; loan and vehicle payments show as expenses. Transfers between your accounts and card payments are left out (the card purchases are counted one by one). Click a segment to collapse it.
Schedule C summary (business segments)
Organized by IRS Schedule C line to make the hand-off to your accountant easier. Not tax advice: deductibility depends on your situation. Always confirm with a licensed tax professional.

Edit a transaction to move it to another segment or category. Tick “apply to every transaction from …” and BreadHustle remembers that merchant for every statement you upload later.
What your BBU settlements show
BBU deposits reach the bank already net of the route loan and BBU fees (E). Upload settlements on the dashboard and every BBU deposit is matched to its week automatically.

Business accounts: everything counts toward your businesses unless you say otherwise. Personal accounts: only route-looking costs (tolls, truck repair, commercial insurance) are pulled in, for review.

How BreadHustle Books works
BreadHustle already reads your BBU settlements. Books adds your bank and card statements, so you see the whole money picture: what the route really made, what each business costs, what went to personal, and a P&L ready for your accountant. Nothing is typed by hand, and no number is made up: every line comes from a settlement or a statement and is checked against the bank's own totals.
1. Download your statements as PDF
For every account and card you use for the route (and any other business), download the monthly statement PDF. Start with the last 12 months, or since January for this year's taxes. Download the statement, not the “activity” or CSV export.
chase.com or the Chase app: open the account, then Statements & documents, pick the month, Download. Personal and business checking both work.
americanexpress.com: Statements & Activity, then Statements, and download the PDF for each month.
citi.com: open the card, then Statements, and view or download the PDF for each month.
On iPhone: Wallet, Apple Card, Card Balance, pick the month, Export PDF Statement. Or card.apple.com, Statements.
Not read yet. Email one of its statement PDFs to [email protected]: we set BreadHustle up for your bank, let you know when it's ready, and you upload your statements yourself.
2. Upload them on the Overview page
Drop all the PDFs at once. Each one is checked to the cent against the bank's printed totals. A duplicate is ignored. Then, in the Setup tab, mark each account as Business or Personal and give it a name you recognize.
3. Keep your BBU settlements uploaded
Every BBU deposit is matched to its settlement week automatically (same amount, a few days after the week ends). If BBU paid you for a week whose settlement isn't in BreadHustle, the Overview page shows it so you can upload it. Emailing settlements to your private address keeps this automatic.
4. Review and teach it once
Open Transactions and tick Only “to review”. Edit a line to set its segment (your route, another business line like Turo, shared, or personal) and category. Tick apply to every transaction from … and that merchant is remembered for every future statement. In Setup, add your other businesses (Turo, Uber…), your own categories and a rule for every merchant that repeats: that is where Books gets set up your way, without asking us.
5. Read your numbers
- Overview: income, expenses and result per segment, month by month. Click a card or a category to dig in.
- P&L: pick the segments, by month, quarter or total. Export to Excel or PDF for your accountant, with a Schedule C summary.
- Categories: each category's trend, top merchants and biggest transactions.
- Route: everything from the dashboard's former Business section: monthly summary, week-over-week trend, detailed comparison, route financing, operating cost estimates and the route P&L.
Good to know
- This is a cash view: money in and out, when the bank posted it. Your accountant decides the tax treatment (loan principal, vehicle purchases, a route sale).
- Card payments and transfers between your own accounts never count as income or expense, so nothing is counted twice.
- Your statements are stored privately with your account, like your settlements. Only the last 4 digits of each account are kept in your books.
